How TD Boom Works
TD Boom is BestFootballTeams.com's free weekly NFL prediction game. Make your picks each week, earn Badges for your skill, for growing the community, and for contributing to the Blog itself, then climb the Leaderboard. TD Boom is completely free to play — no purchase is ever required to earn Badges, appear on the Leaderboard, or qualify for anything tied to it, including "The Big Surprise" (see below).
Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older to create a TD Boom account. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement.
Joining TD Boom
Accounts open starting September 1, 2026. You can create your account, invite friends, and upgrade at any time from that date forward — Community and Blog Contribution Badges can be earned as soon as you join. Skill Badges based on game picks begin with the first games of the Regular Season on September 9, 2026, since there's nothing to pick before then.
How to Play
Each week during the Regular Season (beginning September 9, 2026) and Playoffs (through Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027), submit your picks for that week's games before kickoff of the first game in that week's slate. Picks lock at kickoff and cannot be changed once a game has started.
Badges — How You Earn Them
All Badges are earned entirely through free participation. No Badge can ever be purchased, and paying for any upgrade never grants, speeds up, or improves your chances of earning a Badge.
Skill Badges:
- Most Games Won — awarded to whoever finishes the Regular Season with the single most correct picks (ties share the Badge).
- Wild Card Watcher — correctly picked a Wild Card round winner.
- Playoff Prophet — correctly picked a team to make the playoffs before the field was set.
- Super Bowl Seer — correctly picked a team to reach the Super Bowl.
- Perfect Week — correctly picked every game in a single week's slate.
- Hot Streak — correctly picked games in 3 consecutive weeks.
- Iron Fan — submitted picks every week of the Regular Season, without missing one.
- Full Bracket — correctly picked the entire playoff bracket.
Community Badges:
- Bring a Friend — a friend you invited joins the BestFootballTeams.com community.
- Squad Builder — 3 friends you invited join the community.
- Word Spreader — you've shared your invite link with a minimum of 5 friends.
Blog Contribution Badges:
These are different from the Community Badges above. Community Badges reward growing our audience; Blog Contribution Badges reward directly improving the Blog and the TD Boom app itself. Both count equally toward your Leaderboard total, but they're earned in different ways and are each capped, as described below.
- Draft Pick — earned by submitting an improvement suggestion for the Blog or TD Boom app that is genuinely unique — not already suggested by another participant, not already in use, not something we're already building, and not too close to something the Blog or app already provides. Suggestions are also screened for legality, feasibility, and basic seriousness. Every submission is logged, whether accepted or not, so uniqueness can be checked against everything previously suggested. If two people independently suggest the same idea, the first submission received gets credit. Capped at 2 Draft Pick Badges per person per season.
- Instant Replay — earned by identifying a genuine factual error in Blog content — meaning what we published does not match what our original source actually published. If a source later corrects or updates its own information, that is not an error on our part and does not qualify. To be considered, a submission must include a link with a visible timestamp, a screenshot, and a reference to our own dated archive snapshot showing what we published. Instant Replay submissions must be received by January 10 (the official end of the Regular Season) to be eligible — this allows time for the human review this Badge requires. Review itself may continue after that date; only the submission deadline is fixed. Capped at 2 Instant Replay Badges per person per season.
Both Draft Pick and Instant Replay are reviewed by a person before being awarded, not granted automatically. MD Property Productions International, LLC reserves the right to revoke any Badge, of any type, later found to have been awarded in error or based on an ineligible submission.
The Leaderboard
Your position on the public TD Boom Leaderboard is based on total Badges earned across all categories — Skill, Community, and Blog Contribution — all counted equally.
Season End & Leaderboard Finalization
All Badge-earning (other than the Instant Replay submission deadline above) ends when the Super Bowl concludes on February 14, 2027. The Leaderboard is finalized and the Top 10% of participants is announced the Monday immediately following the Super Bowl (February 15, 2027).
The Big Surprise
Something big is coming at the end of the season. Everyone who plays TD Boom for free is automatically eligible — nothing to buy, nothing extra to do beyond playing. No purchase is necessary to participate or win. The Big Surprise has an approximate total value of not less than $500.00 and not more than $4,900.00. Upgrades
TD Boom offers optional paid upgrades (see the TD Boom Upgrade page for the current list). Upgrades never affect Badges, Leaderboard position, or eligibility or odds for the Big Surprise — upgrades only ever affect your personal experience using the app, never your competitive standing.
Fair Play
One account per person. Multiple accounts, automated pick submission, or any attempt to manipulate Badges or Leaderboard standing will result in removal from the Leaderboard and forfeiture of any Big Surprise eligibility.
Changes
These App Rules may be updated from time to time; continued use of TD Boom after a change means you accept the update.
